Educational Teaching Aid Experiments About Earthquakes And Its Mitigation For Elementary School Children With Augmented Reality (AR) Features
Abstract
Indonesia is one of the countries that is prone to earthquake disasters because it is located between three active tectonic plates (Pacific, Eurasian, and Indo-Australian) and the Pacific ring of fire which will always experience plate movement and shift during the earth's rotation. cause damage, be it damage to public facilities, infrastructure to the loss of life. According to Government Regulation No. 21 of 2008, children are one of the vulnerable groups most at risk of being affected by disasters. In an effort to minimize the risk due to earthquakes, mitigation is needed which includes education about earthquakes, actions before the incident, actions during the incident and actions after the incident. Therefore, education related to earthquakes and their mitigation is needed in schools. On the other hand, in an effort to prevent the Covid-19 outbreak, the government on March 16, 2020 issued a regulation requiring schools in Indonesia to apply the online learning system method. With this regulation, innovation in education about earthquakes and earthquakes is needed. mitigation for elementary school children. The output in this design is in the form of earthquake props, earthquake knowledge books and their mitigation as well as 3D augmented reality animations which consist of the process of the occurrence of an earthquake, actions before the earthquake, actions during the earthquake and actions after the earthquake. In this design, usability tests will be carried out to measure the level of product usability, then black box testing will be carried out to determine application functionality and user response tests for elementary school children to maximize the function of the tool so that it can be used optimally. The purpose of this design is also intended so that elementary school users can understand and understand about earthquakes and their mitigation.
