Publication Ethic
Indonesian Design Journal is a scientific publication encompassing research findings in the field of design in general. This statement of scientific ethics code is a declaration for all parties involved in the publication process of this scientific journal, namely:
- Management,
- Editors,
- Reviewers,
- and Authors/Writer.
This scientific publication ethics code statement is based on Regulation of the Head of LIPI Number 5 of 2014 concerning the Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication.
The essence of this Code of Ethics for Scientific Publication upholds three ethical values in publication:
- Neutrality, which is freedom from conflicts of interest in publication management;
- Justice, which is granting authorship rights to those who deserve to be named as authors/writers; and
- Honesty, which is freedom from duplication, fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism (DF2P) in publication.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief
- Determine the journal's name, scope of science, periodicity, and accreditation if needed.
- Determine the editorial board membership.
- Define the relationship between the publisher, editor, reviewers, and other parties.
- Respect confidential matters, for contributing researchers, authors, editors, and reviewers alike.
- Apply norms and provisions regarding intellectual property rights, particularly copyright.
- Review journal policies and communicate them to authors, editors, reviewers, and readers.
- Create code of conduct guidelines for editors and reviewers.
- Publish the journal regularly.
- Ensure the availability of funding sources for the sustainability of journal publishing.
- Build cooperation and marketing networks.
- Improve the quality of the journal.
- Prepare permits and other legal aspects.
Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
- Editors provide comments on the author's manuscript to help readers understand the author's intended message, through comments written on the manuscript.
- Editors provide comments on the author's writing in accordance with PUEBI (General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling) or the language standardized by the journal.
- Editors strive for continuous quality improvement of the publication.
- Editors prioritize objective freedom of opinion.
- Editors issue corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies if necessary.
- Editors ensure that the author's writing does not concern SARA (Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and Inter-group Relations) or anything that could harm the Publisher and coordinate the author's writing to the publisher's editor-in-chief if the writing is somewhat controversial.
- Editors receive, review, and follow up on complaints from all parties involved in the journal publication.
- Editors support initiatives to educate researchers about publication ethics.
- Editors do not uphold their own opinions, those of the author, or third parties that could lead to non-objective decisions.
- Editors encourage authors to improve their manuscripts until they are worthy of publication.
- Editors layout manuscripts to be published so they conform to the journal template.
- Editors assist the editor-in-chief in finalizing the collection of manuscripts before printing and publication, particularly in terms of language, format, and layout.
Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Provide objective and unbiased written feedback regarding the scholarly merit and contribution of the manuscript to the development of science.
- Indicate whether the manuscript writing is sufficiently clear, complete, and relevant, and whether the manuscript fits the journal's scope.
- Not provide personal criticisms or comments.
- Maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript by not discussing it with unrelated parties or disclosing information contained within the manuscript to others.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Website Administrator
The Website Administrator is the person responsible for managing the journal website. Specifically, the scope of the Website Administrator's duties is as follows:
- Prepare the journal website.
- Configure system options and manage user accounts.
- Register editors, reviewers, and authors.
- Manage journal features.
- View statistical reports.
- Upload/publish papers that have an 'accepted' status.
